Posted on: November 12, 2009

Fort Lauderdale October 2009: Nauticomp, one of the worlds leading manufacturers of robust, waterproof maritime displays, introduces an enhanced version of its celebrated Glass Bridge Display® at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

The Glass Bridge Display® offers the industry’s largest display in the smallest chassis, providing the skipper with the clearest information by maximising the screen space available. Interface circuits allow up to 10 inputs to be displayed while Picture in Picture (PIP) facilitates all inputs, or any combination, to be displayed simultaneously if required. Inputs can be DVI, VGA, NTSC and component HDTV.
Each of the input functions are easily controlled through the external GB Commander keypad. The user can easily select inputs manually or simply set the controller for auto selection.

Building to stringent IP 67 standards, Nauticomp has used the very latest glass bonding technology which has been optically enhanced. The units therefore not only provide superb clarity and readability, even in full sunlight, but are also totally waterproof and free of any possible misting in a humid environment.

The advanced dynamic brightness technique, allows the user to control brightness levels of every input. Highly efficient LED backlight technology has been incorporated into this new generation to reduce power draw at all levels, while Nauticomp’s celebrated Dim to Red feature makes the Glass Bridge Display® a class leader for night operation, dimming to 2 nits in black or red.

The Nauticomp 12”, 15”, and 19” models are available as daylight viewable for pilothouse applications, and sunlight viewable for bridge stations. The industry leading 21.3” Glass Bridge Display®, has been developed for the most prestigious Pilothouse and Bridge applications aboard today’s prestigious superyachts and the demanding requirements of the professional skipper.

The Nauticomp range can be seen at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, booth 533, Bahia Mar electronics tent.

Signature II Displays now with LED Technology

Posted on: November 12, 2009

Fort Lauderdale October 2009: Nauticomp, world leading manufacturer of high quality displays for the leisure and military maritime environments, introduces the very latest in its Signature II series of waterproof, sunlight readable displays for the yachting market at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

Now with LED backlight technology, Signature II is the newest generation of Nauticomp’s bonded glass displays. The range of 12” 15” or 19” units have been designed and engineered into extra slim casings to provide the helmsman/navigator with the opportunity to incorporate a much larger display into a confined bridge area than was previously possible.

Optical enhancing of the bonded glass provides outstanding clarity and greatly improves the ability to use the displays in direct sunlight. All Nauticomp displays are fully waterproof, built to IP67 standards, allowing complete freedom to position the display where it is needed most. Signature II also provides both AC and DC power options.

To ensure the display can be tailored to the helmsman’s night vision requirements the displays can be easily dimmed to any level from 0 to 100% and selectable as red on any input. With 6 inputs accepting DVI, VGA, NTSC, PAL, and SECAM, the Signature II displays can show any choice if information selected separately or combined, with the resolution scalable up to SXGA.

Ryan Moore, President of Nauticomp Inc, commented, “We have been advancing the technology behind bridge displays for many years by listening to the actual needs of mariners. We have therefore designed our products to improve the way that vital information is displayed on board. We were one of the first company’s to introduce bonded glass displays and of course our dim to red dimming technology is class leading. We are confident that the new Signature II range will be a valuable addition to a great many vessels in the future.”

The new Nauticomp Signature II displays can be seen at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, on booth 533, in the electronics tent of the Bahia Mar.
